Description

BOLA double-blade stirring shafts feature a PTFE-coated stainless steel shaft fitted with two PTFE stirring blades arranged crosswise and offset by 90°. This model has a length of 1000 mm, a shaft diameter of 16 mm and a clamping diameter of 14,0 mm. Blade dimensions according to the manufacturer layout are 140 mm, 25 mm and 12 mm (A–B–C), with a blade spacing of 150 mm. The upper blade is fixed by clamping screws made from PEEK compound, giving a secure mechanical connection during stirring. Contact with the process medium is limited to PTFE surfaces on the blades and the coated shaft, supporting use with a wide range of laboratory chemicals. The stirrer is supplied as one piece and has a net weight of 1,6 kg. These double-blade shafts from manufacturer Bohlender suit overhead stirring setups that require radial mixing over a long immersion length. The PTFE-coated stainless steel core combines chemical resistance at the wetted surfaces with the mechanical stability needed for a 1000 mm shaft. Typical applications include surface and bulk agitation in research, pilot and preparative laboratory vessels where PTFE compatibility is preferred.

This article is part of Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

What is this article?

BOLA Stirrer Shafts with Two Paddles, L 1000 mm Ø16 mm aØ 140x25 mm PTFE-coated is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A shaft, a propeller or an impeller is the wetted end of an overhead stirrer. The diameter and the pitch decide whether the liquid turns over. The material, stainless steel or PTFE, decides what the liquid may be. The chuck size has to match the stirrer.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
