Description

BOLA olive plug cock 2-way with outer olive diameter 6,8 mm in PTFE is a two-way stopcock with straight bore and two olives for connecting elastic tubing such as Viton®, Tygon® or silicone. The conical plug is tightened via the cone nut on the underside to increase sealing, and the unit is intended for low-pressure service. Only PTFE contacts the flowing medium, giving universal chemical resistance for laboratory fluid handling. Bore diameter is 3,0 mm for tubing with inner diameter 6 mm; olive outer diameter is 6,8 mm. Approximate external dimensions are 60 × 22 × 53 mm (L × D × H), with a net weight of 0,033 kg. This BOLA fitting from manufacturer Bohlender suits transfer and shut-off of chemically aggressive media where metal-free, PTFE-wetted paths are required. Supplied as a single piece, it is a compact 2-way olive cone cock for low-pressure tubing lines in analytical and preparative setups.

This article is part of Stopcocks & valves, in Tubing, hoses & fittings.

Questions about BOLA Stopcocks with Hose Connectors, aØ 6,8 mm PTFE, for low pressures

What is this article?

BOLA Stopcocks with Hose Connectors, aØ 6,8 mm PTFE, for low pressures is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Stopcocks & valves, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A stopcock opens and closes a line, or directs it between ports. Glass stopcocks have a ground plug that needs grease or a PTFE key. The bore decides the flow. A two-way and a three-way key are different parts.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
