Description
Compact laboratory balance KERN EWJ 300-3 is a high-quality precision balance intended for accurate laboratory weighing. Internal automatic adjustment runs on a timed cycle every 2 h, helping maintain high accuracy and making the instrument less dependent on its location. Checkweighing with optical and acoustic feedback supports portioning, dosing and sorting against set tolerance ranges. All principal functions have their own keys on the control panel, following the familiar, comfortable KERN operating concept. A rising bar-graph capacity display indicates the still available weighing range. A small removable draft shield is supplied as standard; the weighing chamber measures 134×128×80 mm (W×D×H). Weighing data can be transferred via the USB interface to a PC, printer or similar device. A protective working cover is included with the balance from manufacturer Kern. Delivered as one piece with a net weight of 2,2 kg (gross weight 3,8 kg), it is well suited to fine and precision weighing where draft protection and simple data output are required.

Questions about Compact Laboratory Balance KERN EWJ, 300-3
What is this article?
Compact Laboratory Balance KERN EWJ, 300-3 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Precision balances, inside Balances & scales, in Lab instruments.
A precision balance reads more coarsely than an analytical balance, often 1 mg or 10 mg, and it takes a heavier pan load. It is the balance for preparing bulk reagents. Draft, level and a warm-up still move the last digit.
A balance compares a mass with a standard. An analytical balance reads to 0.1 mg or finer and needs a draft shield and a stable bench. A precision balance is coarser and faster. A platform scale takes a heavier load. The reading is only as good as the calibration chain back to the kilogram, which is why test weights and a certificate exist. A moisture analyser is a balance with a heater: it records the loss of mass as water leaves. The unit of mass is kept by the BIPM, compared across Europe by EURAMET, and accredited by BELAC. NIST publishes the same measurement foundations.
