Description

Crucible with filter plate, porosity 5, is a laboratory filter crucible made from high-quality borosilicate glass LBG 3.3 and equipped with an integral sintered filter disc of the finest listed grade. Porosity 5 corresponds to a pore-size range of 1–2 µm, intended for retaining very fine particles during analytical filtration and gravimetric determinations. The vessel provides a 50 ml working volume and a 40 mm diameter, a practical size for precipitate collection, washing and controlled drying without loose filter media. Maximum temperature is 220 °C provided heating and cooling are performed slowly and under control, enabling careful thermal steps after filtration. Supplied as one piece from manufacturer Labbox, the crucible serves chemistry, materials and quality-control laboratories that need tight particle retention together with the chemical durability of borosilicate 3.3. The built-in filter plate reduces handling losses and simplifies transfer of residues compared with separate funnels and papers. Net weight is 0,052 kg. Suitable for fine-precipitate isolation, clarification of dilute suspensions and preparatory filtration within the stated temperature limit.

This article is part of Crucibles, in Dishes, crucibles & porcelain.

What is this article?

Crucible with filter plate, porosity 5, cap. 50 ml , Ø 40 mm, 1 pc is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in Crucibles, inside Dishes, crucibles & porcelain, in Labware.

A crucible holds a sample in a furnace or over a flame, at temperatures that would soften a borosilicate beaker. Porcelain, platinum and glazed ceramic are different articles. The form, tall or wide, decides how fast a sample dries or ashes.

A dish is an open vessel for drying, evaporating or holding a solid. Porcelain and glazed ceramic take a higher temperature than borosilicate glass, which is why a crucible, not a beaker, goes into a furnace. A watch glass covers, or holds a small amount for drying. A mortar is for grinding. The temperature and the chemical, not the shape alone, choose the material. Laboratory ware of this family is listed under ISO laboratory ware.
