Description

Dip slide plate-count agar/VRBD agar is a double-sided culture slide for parallel microbial evaluation, supplied in packs of 10 pieces. One side is coated with plate-count agar and the other with VRBD agar, so a sample can contact two media in a single immersion or surface contact step. Dip slides began as tools for assessing bacterial content in urine and evolved into this dual-face design pairing media suited to different microbial groups. Colony counting is time- and cost-efficient because both surfaces are exposed together. The carrier is easily disposable plastic with raised edges that keep medium thickness uniform, plus an incorporated grid that eases colony enumeration. The slide geometry encourages liquid drainage, while the cap acts as a handle and reduces the risk of touching the agar. Diagrams for determining germ counts of bacteria, fungi and yeasts are supplied to simplify growth assessment, including in locations with limited laboratory access. From manufacturer Altmann Analytik, the product supports routine hygiene and microbiology checks. Origin: Germany.

This article is part of Microscope slides & cover glasses, in Microscopy & histology.

Questions about Dip Slide Plate-Count-Agar/VRBD-Agar, 10 pc/PAK

What is this article?

Dip Slide Plate-Count-Agar/VRBD-Agar, 10 pc/PAK is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Altmann Analytik for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope slides & cover glasses, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.

A slide is the glass a specimen sits on. A cover glass is the thin sheet over it, of a thickness the objective was designed for. A cover glass of the wrong thickness softens the image. Charged and plain slides hold sections differently.

A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
