Description
DURAN® filter disc with unfused and centred rim and unfinished surfaces is a sintered porous glass plate for laboratory filtration and separation tasks. Featuring a diameter of 60 mm and porosity class 0, it is produced from DURAN® borosilicate glass 3.3 by sintering glass powder of controlled particle-size distribution into a solid permeable body. These discs suit separations involving strong acids or alkalis and provide clear benefits versus plastic or paper filter materials. Six porosity classes according to ISO 4796 and ASTM E128-99 allow the largest pore width to be matched just below the grain size of the finest solids to be retained. Designed for vacuum filtration at a maximum differential pressure of 1 bar, the glass article is supplied as one piece for further processing. The unfused centred rim and unfinished surfaces aid integration into custom glassware. This filter disc from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences combines chemical resistance with mechanical stability for analytical and preparative applications in research and industrial laboratories.
This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Questions about DURAN® Filter Disc, sintered glass, edge not fused, centred, surfaces untreated
What is this article?
DURAN® Filter Disc, sintered glass, edge not fused, centred, surfaces untreated is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
