Description
DURAN® filtration apparatus comprising a 1000 ml suction flask and 250 ml receiver vessel is engineered for vacuum filtration of aqueous and organic solutions. Constructed from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, the medium contacts only glass and PTFE, making the system nearly universal for chemical compatibility. A PTFE plate holder accepts either a slotted sieve plate or porous glass filter discs of various porosities (10 µm–160 µm), enabling coarse, fine and analytical filtrations. The graduated receiver simplifies dosing and evaluation while interchangeable plates and the PTFE adapter allow rapid porosity changes and easy cleaning from both sides. Supplied by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the apparatus includes a proven suction flask and PTFE olive suitable for tubing of 8 mm internal diameter. Typical uses include preparation of HPLC media, residue analysis, particle-contamination assessment, bacterial-contamination studies and general purification under reduced pressure. All components are available as spare parts for long-term laboratory service.

Questions about DURAN® Filtering Apparatus
What is this article?
DURAN® Filtering Apparatus is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Bottle-top & vacuum filtration units, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A bottle-top filter or a vacuum filtration unit sits on a bottle and pulls a liquid through a membrane under vacuum. Pore size and membrane are the same choice as a syringe filter, at a larger area. A sterile unit is a stated claim. The bottle neck has to match.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
