Description

DURAN® glass stopper, amber, with standard ground joint NS 60/46 and octagonal head is a semi-hollow borosilicate glass 3.3 stopper designed to close flasks, separatory funnels or reagent bottles equipped with ground joint necks. The standard taper ground glass joint forms a reliable, leak-proof seal; grease should be applied for heating or vacuum conditions. Supplied by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the stopper features an octagonal head for secure handling and external amber colouring that provides UV protection, long service life and good chemical resistance. Made entirely of glass components, it is suitable for containing aggressive materials. Primary uses encompass storage of light-sensitive reagents, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, air-sensitive reagents and chemicals, plus hygroscopic solids, granules and powders. When used with soda-lime glass bottles, avoid temperature differences exceeding 30 °C between the bottle and stopper to prevent sticking. Available as one piece with a net weight of 0,245 kg.

This article is part of Ground-joint glass stoppers, in Stoppers, caps & closures.

Questions about DURAN® Glass Stopper, amber, with standard ground joint, octagonal

What is this article?

DURAN® Glass Stopper, amber, with standard ground joint, octagonal is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Ground-joint glass stoppers, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck of a stated joint size. A 14/23 stopper does not seal a 29/32 neck. The stopper is part of the flask's seal, and a chip on the grind is a leak.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
