Description

DURAN® KPG® Stirrer Shaft, WS, Ø 10 mm, interchangeable is a precision-engineered glass stirring shaft designed for use together with matching KPG® bearing sleeves in laboratory reaction set-ups. Produced from chemically resistant borosilicate glass 3.3, the shaft features a nominal diameter of 10 mm and a length of 320 mm. KPG® bearing parts are manufactured to high accuracy and uniformity; the defined tolerances for nominal diameter and fit are maintained by careful quality control, guaranteeing full interchangeability of KPG® sleeves and shafts. The running surface is ground and polished. Thanks to the minimal bearing play between the mating surfaces, nearly absolute sealing and completely quiet running can be achieved when appropriate lubrication is applied. KPG® stirrer assemblies provide a robust alternative to magnetic stirrers and are employed with reaction vessels that cannot be accessed from below, when highly viscous reaction mixtures must be stirred, or when elevated stirring speeds are necessary. Applications include stirring of liquids during organic and inorganic syntheses as well as high-speed agitation. This interchangeable WS shaft from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences delivers consistent mechanical performance for demanding laboratory mixing tasks.

This article is part of Overhead stirrers, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

Questions about DURAN® KPG® Stirrer Shaft, WS, Ø 10 mm, interchangeable

What is this article?

DURAN® KPG® Stirrer Shaft, WS, Ø 10 mm, interchangeable is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Overhead stirrers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

An overhead stirrer drives a shaft from above, for volumes and viscosities a magnetic bar cannot move. Torque and speed range are the ratings. The chuck and the stand are part of using it. A high-speed disperser is a different head.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
