Description

DURAN® measuring cylinder with hexagonal base, class B, white graduations and line graduations serves for receiving and simultaneously measuring different liquid volumes. This 5 ml (0,005 l) cylinder is made of borosilicate glass 3.3 and is equipped with a line graduation together with a white scale. The white printed image is burnt-in, giving a permanently durable marking that stays easy to read. Calibration is performed to contain (“In”) at the reference temperature of +20 °C. Volume tolerances correspond to accuracy class B in line with the error limits of DIN and ISO for measuring and mixing cylinders. The large hexagonal base incorporates three knobs on the underside to ensure standing stability and to prevent the cylinder from rolling away. Uniform wall thickness over the complete measuring range avoids wedge errors. Typical uses include measuring liquid quantities, diluting solutions, mixing several components and general volumetric work. These glass products from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences should not be heated above +250 °C in a drying oven or sterilizer in order to safeguard long-term volumetric performance and durability.

This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, white scale, with graduation

What is this article?

DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, white scale, with graduation is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
