DURAN® Original laboratory bottle, amber, is a multifunctional GL 45 bottle with a nominal volume of 20 l formed from high-purity USP/EP Type I borosilicate glass 3.3. This glass is recognised for excellent thermal behaviour and high resistance to chemical attack; combined with the robust ISO 4796-1 design it delivers long service life. A fused external amber colouring protects light-sensitive contents from photodegradation, providing UV protection up to approximately 500 nm in line with international USP/EP standards for the entire lifetime of the bottle. The purely external colouring leaves the internal DURAN® glass properties unchanged and offers lasting chemical resistance of the brown layer. An easily readable graduated volume scale and a permanent white enamel marking field are provided, while the permanently printed batch identification (Retrace Code) on every bottle guarantees complete manufacturing traceability. Supplied without screw cap and pouring ring from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the bottle features a standardised GL thread for tight closure and clean pouring with matched systems. Typical applications include preparation, storage, transport and shipping of light-sensitive materials, autoclaving of media and reagents, and use as a culture vessel. Height is 505 mm and outer diameter 288 mm; net weight is 6 kg.
