Description

DURAN® round-bottom flask with NS 29/32 is a 500 ml single-neck laboratory flask manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. Round-bottom flasks are widely used in the laboratory because of their broad range of applications. Contained media can be heated with heating mantles or liquid baths, or cooled in a cold bath; point heating or cooling should be avoided. The spherical geometry supports very uniform heating and also suits vacuum work, provided the glass surface is free from impacts or deep scratches. The standard ground joint ensures a tight seal and accurate connection to further ground-joint components such as columns, thermometers and dropping funnels. The flask can be closed with glass or plastic stoppers and carries a permanently fired-on white print for lasting identification. Typical applications include distillation, extraction, evaporation of liquids, drying of materials, heating in baths or mantles, and mounting on stands. This 0,5 l vessel with one neck (net weight 0,155 kg) is offered by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences as a reliable borosilicate glassware item for everyday laboratory workflows.

Questions about DURAN® Round Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint

What is this article?

DURAN® Round Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
