Description

DURAN® round-bottom flask NS 29/32 with 1000 ml nominal volume is a single-neck laboratory vessel made of borosilicate glass 3.3. Round-bottom flasks are widely used in the laboratory because of their versatile application range. The flask and contained media can be heated with heating mantles or liquid baths and cooled in cold baths; point heating or cooling should be avoided. The spherical geometry also makes the vessel suitable for vacuum work when the glass surface is free of impacts or deep scratches. The standard ground joint provides a tight, precise connection to further ground-joint components such as columns, thermometers and dropping funnels. Fired-on white printing remains permanently legible, and the shape supports very uniform heating. The flask can be closed with glass or plastic stoppers and is suitable for stand mounting. Typical uses include distillation, extraction, evaporation of liquids, drying of materials, heating and connection to other glass apparatus. This flask from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is supplied as a single piece with a net weight of 0,27 kg.

Questions about DURAN® Round Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint

What is this article?

DURAN® Round Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
