Description

DURAN® ground cone NS 12/21 is a precision conical joint component for laboratory glass apparatus construction. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, it follows DIN 12249 Form B and meets elevated surface-roughness requirements. The finer ground finish reduces joint-grease demand and lowers the risk of seizing between mating parts. Conical ground joints remain the most widely used connection in glass apparatus building; they should be operated with joint grease or PTFE sleeves for a reliable seal. KECK™ conical joint clamps form a practical complement for securing the connection during use. This glass article for further processing, from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, delivers a dense closure via the standardised ground joint and is intended for incorporation into glass apparatus and instruments. Supplied as a single piece with a net weight of 0,012 kg, the NS 12/21 cone supports compact, leak-resistant assemblies where consistent joint quality and reduced maintenance effort are required in everyday laboratory glassware systems.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Standard Cone finished

What is this article?

DURAN® Standard Cone finished is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
