Description

DURAN® stopcock with PTFE spindle for tubulature lids with NS 24/29 is a precision laboratory fitting designed for airtight sealing of desiccators. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, the stopcock connects via the standard ground joint of the desiccator lid. The PTFE spindle incorporates a very small, pinpoint opening in its lower section that permits slow inflow of gases or air when the valve is opened, thereby reducing strong turbulence inside the desiccator. At the same time the generous ground-joint opening of the spindle valve enables rapid inflow of gases or air when faster equilibration is required. The precision-ground joint ensures a dense, leak-tight closure. Intended for the tubulature lid of the NOVUS type (NS 24/29), this component supports shutting off, diverting and dosing of gases and vapours as well as reliable closure of desiccators. Supplied as a single piece with a net weight of 0,027 kg from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, it integrates readily into standard laboratory glassware systems requiring controlled atmosphere management.

Questions about DURAN® Stopcock with PTFE Spindle, for desiccator lid outlets (NS 24/29)

What is this article?

DURAN® Stopcock with PTFE Spindle, for desiccator lid outlets (NS 24/29) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Stopcocks & valves, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A stopcock opens and closes a line, or directs it between ports. Glass stopcocks have a ground plug that needs grease or a PTFE key. The bore decides the flow. A two-way and a three-way key are different parts.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
