Description

DURAN® TILT GL 56 membrane cap is a venting screw closure for DURAN® TILT laboratory bottles used in sterilisation and storage of media or buffer solutions. Its microporous ePTFE membrane (0,2 µm) enables bidirectional sterile gas exchange while blocking liquids and solids, keeping bottle contents sterile. The PTFE membrane and polypropylene mesh support are ultrasonically welded into a durable seal, so the cap can be fully tightened during autoclaving. Automatic pressure equalisation lowers the risk of breakage from pressure build-up up to 400 kPa or from vacuum formed on cooling after steam sterilisation. The ePTFE membrane corresponds to USP 121 °C Class VI and is backed by polypropylene. From manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, these economical closures are reusable; replacement after three to five autoclave cycles, or if the membrane is damaged or contaminated, is advised. Applications include pressure equalisation during steam sterilisation of media and buffers, sterile gas exchange for aerobic microorganism, shake and suspension cell cultures, short-term storage of sterilised media, and storage of gas-forming materials. Supplied as a pack of 4 pieces.

Questions about DURAN® TILT GL 56 Screw Cap Membrane Vented

What is this article?

DURAN® TILT GL 56 Screw Cap Membrane Vented is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Screw caps & closures, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A screw cap has a thread and a liner. The thread has to match the bottle. The liner has to survive the liquid: a pulp liner fails in a solvent that a PTFE-faced liner ignores. The colour of the cap is not the specification.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
