Description
DURAN® Vacuum Desiccator, Type NOVUS (NS 24/29), with stopcock and flat flange is a vacuum-suitable laboratory vessel with ground lid for storing moisture-sensitive substances and drying moist products. This DN 200 model is made of borosilicate glass 3.3 and is supplied without a porcelain plate. A desiccant in the lower compartment, separated by a sieve plate of metal or porcelain, binds moisture from samples placed above. Vacuum applied through the stopcock connection accelerates drying because reduced pressure speeds evaporation. Units from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences are vacuum-tight and rated for full vacuum down to 0 mbar. Robust wall thickness and precisely finished vacuum-tight joints on lid and base support extended storage under vacuum. After evacuation the lid is pressed firmly onto the base, so the flat ground joint should be well greased for easier release. Compatible spare lids, bases, stopcocks and closures can be interchanged when the DN size is observed. Ideal for moisture removal from solids, long-term storage of sensitive materials and safe vacuum drying work.

Questions about DURAN® Vacuum Desiccator, NOVUS type (NS 24/29), with stopcock, with flat flange
What is this article?
DURAN® Vacuum Desiccator, NOVUS type (NS 24/29), with stopcock, with flat flange is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Reaction vessels & jacketed vessels, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.
A reaction vessel is the flask a synthesis actually runs in, sometimes jacketed so a fluid can heat or cool the wall. The joints, the working volume and the jacket connections are the specification. It is not a storage bottle.
A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
