Description
DURAN® glass stopper, clear, with short standard ground joint NS 29/22 and octagonal head is a semi-hollow laboratory closure for glassware such as flasks or reagent bottles fitted with ground joint necks. The Standard Taper ground glass joint forms a tight, leak-proof seal; grease is recommended for heating or vacuum applications. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, this stopper from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences consists solely of glass components and is therefore suitable for storing aggressive materials. The octagonal head provides a secure, comfortable grip. It is well suited to the storage of air-sensitive reagents and chemicals as well as hygroscopic solids, granules and powders. When used with soda-lime glass bottles, a temperature difference greater than 30 °C between bottle and stopper can cause sticking. The clear glass permits easy visual inspection of contents. Each stopper has a net weight of 0,055 kg and is supplied in convenient packs of 10 pieces for routine laboratory use.
This article is part of Ground-joint glass stoppers, in Stoppers, caps & closures.

Questions about DURAN® Glass Stopper, clear, with short standard ground joint, octagonal
What is this article?
DURAN® Glass Stopper, clear, with short standard ground joint, octagonal is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Ground-joint glass stoppers, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.
A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck of a stated joint size. A 14/23 stopper does not seal a 29/32 neck. The stopper is part of the flask's seal, and a chip on the grind is a leak.
A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
