Description

DURAN® GL 45 high-temperature screw cap (PBT, red) is a laboratory bottle closure fitted with a PTFE-coated, peroxide-crosslinked silicone seal for high leak-tightness. Constructed from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) with PTFE, ETFE, silicone and glass fibre components, this red cap provides superior chemical resistance compared with standard polypropylene closures. It is fully autoclavable at 121 °C or 134 °C and is also suitable for dry-heat sterilisation and pressure applications. The PTFE coating ensures excellent chemical durability, while the liner creates a secure seal with the bottle. A matching red ETFE pouring ring is available separately for clean, drip-free pouring. From manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the cap meets current international food-contact regulations and supports autoclaving of media and reagents, media preparation, storage of corrosive reagents, chemical and thermal reactions, long-term archiving, sampling, transport and shipping. Delivered as a single piece with a net weight of 0,036 kg.

This article is part of Screw caps & closures, in Stoppers, caps & closures.

Questions about DURAN® High Temperature Screw Cap (PBT, red)

What is this article?

DURAN® High Temperature Screw Cap (PBT, red) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Screw caps & closures, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

A screw cap has a thread and a liner. The thread has to match the bottle. The liner has to survive the liquid: a pulp liner fails in a solvent that a PTFE-faced liner ignores. The colour of the cap is not the specification.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
