Description

Rotor FA-6x250 is an aerosol-tight fixed-angle rotor supplied with an Eppendorf QuickLock® rotor lid and designed for six 250 mL bottles. It is intended for Centrifuge 5910 Ri, Centrifuge 5910 R and Centrifuge 5920 R, making it a dedicated high-capacity option for demanding laboratory workflows. The rotor is ideal for pelleting microorganisms and mammalian cells and supports a broad range of further uses through twelve different adapters. Maximum speed reaches 15 054 × g (10 100 rpm). The QuickLock® lid enables fast, secure locking, while aerosol-tight performance—tested by Public Health England, Porton Down (UK)—supports safer handling of hazardous samples; maximum fill should not exceed 80 % of the maximum volume. At only 5 450 g the rotor remains easy to handle day to day. Anodized aluminium construction provides high chemical resistance; rotor, lid and adapters are autoclavable to help reduce contamination risk. This configuration from manufacturer Eppendorf is offered as one piece; older 5910 R and 5920 R instruments may require a software update before use. Adapter overviews are available under additional product information.

What is this article?

FA-6x250 rotor, Centrifuge 5910/5920 R is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Eppendorf for laboratory use. It sits in Rotors, inside Centrifuges, in Lab instruments.

A centrifuge rotor is the rotating part that holds the tubes, and it is rated for a maximum speed and a maximum load. A swing-out rotor and a fixed-angle rotor pellet differently. A rotor from another centrifuge does not belong on this drive, even when it seems to fit.

A centrifuge separates by density. The rotor spins the sample and the force is reported as a multiple of gravity, not as a raw speed, because the same revolutions per minute are a different force at a different radius. A microcentrifuge takes small tubes. A benchtop or floor model takes larger rotors. The tube, the adapter and the rotor have to be the combination the manufacturer rated. An unbalanced load is how centrifuges fail. Measurement of the related quantities sits with the BIPM.
