Description
VitraPOR® glass filter plate, biplane, is a sintered borosilicate 3.3 disc with a diameter of 200 mm, porosity grade 0 and a thickness of 11,5 mm ± 0,5 mm. Both faces are precision-ground to deliver an exact thickness and a plane-parallel working surface, supporting reproducible filtration and separation steps in laboratory glassware assemblies. Porosity 0 provides a relatively coarse frit structure suited to coarse filtration, gas dispersion and support of finer filter layers. The chemically resistant borosilicate 3.3 matrix withstands typical aqueous and organic media used in analytical and preparative work while remaining dimensionally stable under thermal cycling common in lab practice. Supplied as a single plate from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the component integrates readily into custom filter holders, Büchner-type setups and process glassware where a flat, accurately dimensioned frit is required. Its defined geometry simplifies sealing against gaskets or ground joints and helps maintain uniform flow distribution across the full 200 mm face during filtration or sparging operations.

What is this article?
Filter Disc, bi-plane, 200 mm, Por. 0 Thickness 11.5 mm ± 0.5 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.
A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.
Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
