Description

LabSen 221 pH electrode for viscous and low-concentration solutions is a specialised laboratory sensor engineered for reliable pH measurement in challenging sample matrices. Featuring a LabSen S-type hemispherical glass membrane with low resistance, the electrode delivers fully stabilised readings within 15 to 30 seconds while offering markedly higher mechanical robustness than conventional glass bulbs. A movable sleeve junction allows the electrolyte outflow rate to be adjusted to match the ionic strength of the sample, improving performance in viscous media and low-ion solutions and facilitating easy cleaning. The long-life reference system is compatible with TRIS buffers, and the lead-free special-glass shaft measures Ø12 × 130 mm. Equipped with a BNC connector and 1 m cable, it works with standard pH meters; no built-in temperature sensor is included, so ATC requires a separate probe or manual temperature entry. Measuring range is 0–14 pH with 3 M KCl reference electrolyte and recommended operating temperature of –5 to 100 °C. This electrode from manufacturer APERA Instruments is well suited to titration and demanding biotech or chemical applications.

Questions about LabSen 221 pH electrode for viscous and low-concentration solutions

What is this article?

LabSen 221 pH electrode for viscous and low-concentration solutions is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
