Description

LabSen 241-3 combined pH electrode is designed for micro-sample measurement above 30 µl and for use in thin test tubes, including NMR tubes. With a matching micro-volume container (available separately) volumes down to 15 µl can be measured. Manufactured using patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from APERA Instruments, the electrode features a Long Life reference system of glass tube, AgCl and reference silver wire; cotton packing prevents AgCl–electrolyte reaction during temperature shifts, enhancing stability and longevity. Its unique cylindrical micro tip (tip Ø3 mm, stainless-steel tube Ø4 mm) is protected by a steel sheath against impact damage and remains usable up to 100 °C. Measuring range is 0–14 pH with 3M KCl electrolyte, ceramic diaphragm and lead-free glass shaft. Overall dimensions are electrode Ø12×130 mm and measuring tip Ø3×16 / Ø4×54 mm. The BNC connector is compatible with standard laboratory pH meters; no integrated temperature sensor is present, so automatic compensation requires a separate probe or manual temperature entry. Cable length is Ø3 mm × 1 m. Supplied as one piece.

What is this article?

LabSen 241-3 Combination pH Electrode for Micro Samples (> 30µl) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
