Description

LabSen 241-3SP pH electrode is specialised for protein-containing and viscous micro samples larger than 30 µl in NMR tubes, microtiter plates, microcentrifuge tubes and similar narrow vessels. Produced with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials by APERA Instruments, it employs a unique cylindrical LabSen micro tip (tip Ø3 mm, stainless-steel tube Ø4 mm) protected by a steel sheath against mechanical damage. Protelyte, a specialised oily reference electrolyte, is optimised for protein solutions and viscous media. The long-life reference system uses a glass tube, AgCl and silver wire with a cotton barrier that suppresses temperature-induced reactions, enhancing reference stability and electrode longevity. Overall electrode dimensions are Ø12 × 130 mm with measuring tip geometry Ø4 × 54 mm / Ø3 × 16 mm; the shaft is lead-free glass and the diaphragm is ceramic. A BNC connector with Ø3 mm × 1 m cable ensures compatibility with standard pH meters. Measuring range covers 0–14 pH; no temperature sensor is integrated, requiring a separate probe or manual entry for ATC. With a matching micro container, volumes down to 15 µl become accessible.

What is this article?

LabSen 241-3SP pH Electrode, for protein-containing micro samples (> 30µl) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
