Description

LabSen 251 spear-tip glass pH electrode is purpose-built for reliable pH measurement in soft and semi-solid materials such as cheese, butter, dough and fruit, as well as general liquid samples. Produced with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from manufacturer APERA Instruments, it uses a low-resistance, impact-resistant LabSen S-type pointed glass membrane that delivers fully stabilised readings in 15 to 30 seconds and is up to ten times more robust than conventional membranes, greatly reducing breakage risk during penetration. Maintenance-free polymer electrolyte with a hole-diaphragm structure allows direct sample contact without clogging and requires no refilling. The Long Life reference system (glass tube, AgCl, reference silver wire with cotton packing) improves reference stability and extends electrode life. Blue gel electrolyte does not flow or form air bubbles. Measuring range is 0–14 pH; recommended operating temperature is 0–80 °C. Electrode body is Ø12×100 mm with measuring tip Ø6×35 mm, lead-free glass shaft, ceramic-plus-single-pore diaphragm and BNC connector. No temperature sensor is integrated. Cable is Ø3 mm × 1 m. Supplied as a single unit.

Questions about LabSen®251 Glass Spear pH Electrode for Semi-Solid Samples

What is this article?

LabSen®251 Glass Spear pH Electrode for Semi-Solid Samples is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
