Description

Cover glasses for microscopy 12 mm Ø, No. 1 are precision circular coverslips made from chemically resistant borosilicate glass D 263® M of the first hydrolytic class. They are intended for applications in accordance with EU Regulation 2017/746 on in-vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDR) and carry the CE mark together with a batch number for comprehensive information and full traceability. Each carton holds 1000 pieces, packed as 100 pieces per flip-top box, providing a practical format for routine laboratory use. Produced by Marienfeld, these cover glasses combine optical clarity with strong chemical resistance and are well suited to brightfield, phase-contrast and fluorescence microscopy. The No. 1 thickness grade is the standard choice for many specimen-preparation workflows. With a diameter of 12 mm and material specified as borosilicate glass 3.3, the coverslips deliver consistent dimensional accuracy and a stable, optically clear surface. High-throughput laboratories can also obtain a bulk pack of 150 000 pieces when larger quantities are required.

This article is part of Microscope slides & cover glasses, in Microscopy & histology.

Questions about Microscope cover glasses 12 mm Ø, No. 1,

What is this article?

Microscope cover glasses 12 mm Ø, No. 1, is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Marienfeld for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope slides & cover glasses, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.

A slide is the glass a specimen sits on. A cover glass is the thin sheet over it, of a thickness the objective was designed for. A cover glass of the wrong thickness softens the image. Charged and plain slides hold sections differently.

A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
