Description

Cover glasses for microscopy 18 mm Ø, No. 1,5H are high-precision round coverslips specified at 0,170 ± 0,005 mm thickness for use on high-performance microscopes. They are produced from chemically resistant borosilicate glass D 263® M belonging to the first hydrolytic class, combining optical quality with robust chemical resistance. Suitable for applications in accordance with EU Regulation 2017/746 on in-vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDR), the glasses are CE-marked and labelled with a batch number to ensure complete information and traceability. Available from manufacturer Marienfeld, the standard pack comprises 1,000 pieces in a carton, organised as 100 pieces per hinged box; bulk packaging of up to 100,000 pieces is also offered. The 18 mm diameter is a versatile format for routine and specialised slide work in pathology, cell biology and fluorescence imaging. Tight thickness tolerance supports reliable focusing with high-NA and oil-immersion objectives.

Questions about Microscope cover glasses 18 mm Ø, No. 1.5H

What is this article?

Microscope cover glasses 18 mm Ø, No. 1.5H is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Marienfeld for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope slides & cover glasses, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.

A slide is the glass a specimen sits on. A cover glass is the thin sheet over it, of a thickness the objective was designed for. A cover glass of the wrong thickness softens the image. Charged and plain slides hold sections differently.

A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
