Description

Nalgene™ autoclavable flat carboys made of polypropylene copolymer (PPCO) with spigot are intended for the containment and disposal of nearly all liquids encountered in the laboratory, including reagents, distilled water and titrants. The low-profile design allows the carboys to fit into tight niches and permits stacking of up to three units, thereby optimising limited storage space. Each vessel has a nominal capacity of 15 l, a 63 mm closure and a neck inner diameter of 44 mm; overall height with closure is 210 mm. Fabricated from durable polypropylene copolymer, these carboys from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics are autoclavable and support repeated use under standard laboratory sterilisation protocols. An integrated spigot enables controlled dispensing without tipping. Supplied as a case of four individual units, the set provides a practical solution for liquid storage, transport and controlled emptying in research, quality-control and teaching laboratories that require robust, space-efficient plastic containers.

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Autoclavable Polypropylene Copolymer (PPCO) Lowboys with is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Canisters & jerrycans, inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.

A canister or jerrycan holds litres, not millilitres, and it is shaped to be carried and to pour. The material has to survive the liquid for the whole time the can sits in the store.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
