Description

Nalgene™ class B volumetric flasks made of polymethylpentene (PMP) are graduated laboratory vessels for precise volume work at larger fill volumes. Each 500 ml narrow-mouth flask is calibrated both to contain and to deliver at 20 °C and meets ASTM E288 and ISO 384 Class B tolerances, with an error limit of ± 0,40 ml. Screw closures (24 mm) help protect against leakage, breakage and contamination during solution preparation and handling. Graduations enable clear volume reading for standards, dilutions and routine volumetric procedures. The flasks are reusable and autoclavable, although autoclaving will affect accuracy. Offered from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics as a case of 8, they serve as a plastic Class B alternative when defined tolerance and lower breakage risk matter. With a nominal volume of 0,5 l, graduated scale and secure screw-cap sealing, these PMP flasks support analytical, quality-control and general laboratory workflows requiring reliable Class B volumetric polymer ware.

This article is part of Volumetric flasks, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about Nalgene™ Class B Polymethypentene (PMP) Volumetric Flasks with Screw

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Class B Polymethypentene (PMP) Volumetric Flasks with Screw is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Volumetric flasks, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A volumetric flask is calibrated to contain one volume at a reference temperature, with a single mark on a narrow neck. Class A is the tight tolerance. It is not a storage bottle and it is not for heating. The stopper is part of the calibrated article.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
