Description

Nalgene™ autoclavable polypropylene carboys with bottom tubulation provide a 10 l capacity for laboratory storage and dispensing of distilled water and culture media. Manufactured from polypropylene, the white carboy includes a bottom hose connection, moulded-in handles and permanent graduations in 5-litre and 1-gallon increments. The neck inner diameter measures 64 mm, the outer diameter is 245 mm and the height with closure reaches 389 mm. Closure size is 83B, with a polypropylene cap and thermoplastic elastomer gasket. The vessels are autoclavable and supplied as a case of 6. This design from manufacturer Thermo Scientific – Laboratory Plastics supports repeated sterilisation cycles and controlled liquid transfer via the lower tubulation. Graduations enable rapid volume assessment, while the integrated handles simplify lifting of the filled carboy. Suitable for media preparation, water storage and general laboratory fluid handling where chemical resistance and autoclavability of polypropylene are required.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Bottom Tubulation

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Bottom Tubulation is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Canisters & jerrycans, inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.

A canister or jerrycan holds litres, not millilitres, and it is shaped to be carried and to pour. The material has to survive the liquid for the whole time the can sits in the store.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
