Description

Nalgene™ autoclavable polypropylene carboy with spigot offers a 10 l capacity for long-term storage and convenient dispensing of distilled water, solutions and culture media. Manufactured from polypropylene, the vessel provides excellent chemical resistance and is fully autoclavable for repeated sterile use. An opaque white body protects light-sensitive contents, while permanent graduations in 5-litre and 1-gallon increments support accurate volume monitoring. The wide 64 mm neck accepts an 83B polypropylene closure with thermoplastic elastomer gasket for a secure seal. Integrated shoulder handles and a moulded-in spigot simplify transport and controlled dispensing. Overall height with closure is 389 mm. Supplied as a case of six units, this robust carboy from manufacturer Thermo Scientific – Laboratory Plastics is well suited to media preparation, buffer storage and general laboratory fluid handling where durability and autoclave compatibility are required.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Spigot

What is this article?

Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Spigot is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Canisters & jerrycans, inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.

A canister or jerrycan holds litres, not millilitres, and it is shaped to be carried and to pour. The material has to survive the liquid for the whole time the can sits in the store.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
