Description
Nalgene™ autoclavable polypropylene carboy with spigot, 50 l, provides large-volume capacity for long-term storage and dispensing of solutions and culture media in the laboratory. The opaque white polypropylene body offers excellent chemical resistance and is suited to distilled water as well as nutrient media. A polypropylene closure with thermoplastic elastomer gasket (size 83B) fits the 64 mm inner-diameter neck, and the overall height with closure reaches 678 mm for high-capacity yet manageable storage. Permanent graduations marked in 5-litre and 1-gallon increments allow straightforward volume monitoring. Integrated shoulder handles and a moulded-in spigot support safe lifting and controlled gravity dispensing. Autoclavable construction enables repeated sterilisation between batches. This single-unit carboy from manufacturer Thermo Scientific – Laboratory Plastics is intended for media rooms, buffer preparation and general laboratory liquid handling where durable, large-format polypropylene vessels with reliable spigot delivery are needed.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Spigot
What is this article?
Nalgene™ Polypropylene, Carboy with Spigot is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Canisters & jerrycans, inside Bottles & containers, in Labware.
A canister or jerrycan holds litres, not millilitres, and it is shaped to be carried and to pour. The material has to survive the liquid for the whole time the can sits in the store.
A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
