Description
Nalgene™ polypropylene graduated cylinder, 50 ml is a robust volumetric cylinder designed for precise measuring and mixing in everyday laboratory practice. Manufactured from polypropylene (PP), it combines moulded-in graduations, a wide spout and a large blue hexagonal base that resists tipping during filling and pouring. Nominal volume is 50 ml with a tolerance of ±0,50 ml at accuracy class B; the scale runs from 3 ml to 50 ml in 1 ml increments. Calibration is to contain and to deliver, so the same vessel can be used for both holding and dispensing defined volumes. The product complies with CFR 21 Part 177.1520, ASTM Class B E 1272 and ISO 6706. It is fully autoclavable to 121 °C, allowing repeated thermal sterilisation while retaining legibility of the scale. Offered as 18 pc(s) per case, these cylinders from Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics are well suited to chemistry, biology and QC environments that need shatter-resistant plasticware. The round form and generous spout support clean transfer of aqueous and many common laboratory liquids with minimal spillage.

Questions about Nalgene™ Polypropylene Graduated Cylinders
What is this article?
Nalgene™ Polypropylene Graduated Cylinders is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
