Description

Nalgene™ Economy HDPE wide-mouth bottles with closure are practical containers for short-term general laboratory and field use. Each bottle holds 125 ml (4 oz.), features a wide opening with 28 mm inner neck diameter, and has a round body of 50 mm diameter and 99 mm height. Natural translucent HDPE bottles come with natural translucent polypropylene screw closures (38 mm, without liner) included, supporting straightforward filling, access and everyday sample handling. Manufactured to ISO 13485:2016 quality requirements from Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, bottles and closures meet US 21CFR177.1520 requirements for food and beverage contact and USP Class VI. The bottles are not autoclavable, not graduated and not intended for dispensing through the closure. Supplied as a bulk case of 500 units with an ACT Label, this economy wide-mouth format suits laboratories that need large numbers of lightweight, break-resistant HDPE bottles for routine short-duration applications.

A plastic bottle is polyethylene, polypropylene or a fluoropolymer, narrow-mouth for pouring or wide-mouth for powders. It is the choice when the bottle must not shatter, and it is the wrong choice for solvents that swell the plastic.

A laboratory bottle is a closed container with a stated volume and a neck that takes a cap, a stopper or a dispenser. Borosilicate glass is the choice when the liquid is a solvent, or when the bottle will be heated or autoclaved. Polyethylene and polypropylene are the choice when the bottle must not shatter, or when hydrofluoric acid would attack glass. A narrow mouth pours. A wide mouth is for powders and for reaching the bottom. Laboratory ware of this kind is indexed under ISO laboratory glassware. Traceable volume sits with the BIPM and NIST Physical Measurement.
