Description

Sealing film Parafilm M on a roll of 38 m × 10 cm is a flexible laboratory sealing material based on polyolefins and paraffin wax. It is used to close flasks, tubes, Petri dishes and other vessels, helping to limit evaporation, moisture exchange and contamination during storage or short-term experiments. The stated working temperature range is −45 °C to +50 °C, with a melting point of +60 °C. The film is resistant to common laboratory salt solutions, acids and inorganic bases, and to selected organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol and isopropanol. It is not resistant to diethyl ether, chloroform, tetrachloromethane, benzene or toluene, so solvent compatibility should be checked before use. This Parafilm M roll from manufacturer Labbox is a practical accessory for desiccators and general bench work. Supplied as a single roll (1 pc); net weight is 0,720 kg. Dimensions of 38 m length by 10 cm width support convenient cutting to the required strip size.

This article is part of Plate seals & sealing films, in Microplates, PCR & reaction tubes.

What is this article?

Parafilm M sealing film, roll of 10 cm x 38 m (4'' x 125') is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in Plate seals & sealing films, inside Microplates, PCR & reaction tubes, in Lab consumables.

A plate seal stops a well from evaporating in a cycler or a incubator. Adhesive films, heat seals and cap mats are different closures. Optical seals are clear enough to read through. A seal that lifts in the cycler is a lost sample and a contaminated block.

A microplate is an array of wells so the same step can be done many times. A deep-well plate holds more volume. A PCR plate or a strip of tubes is thin-walled so the temperature of a cycler reaches the liquid quickly. A seal keeps the well from evaporating. The well number, the working volume and whether the plate is skirted for a robot are the choices. Diagnostic test systems are listed under ISO in vitro diagnostic systems. Methods are on PubMed.
