Description

Rotilabo® filter crucible made of glazed porcelain is a laboratory filter crucible with a working volume of 35 ml and a nominal pore size of 6 µm. It serves solid–liquid separation tasks in analytical and preparative chemistry, such as collecting, washing and transferring precipitates. The glazed porcelain body provides a robust, heat-tolerant vessel suitable for filtration followed by drying or ignition steps where porcelain labware is preferred. Each crucible weighs 0,052 kg, remaining practical to handle on the balance and during suction filtration. Packs of 2 pc(s) are supplied under the Rotilabo® range from manufacturer ROTH SELECTION. The 6 µm pore size enables retention of fine solids while filtrate passes under gravity or vacuum. The larger 35 ml capacity suits slightly higher sample loads within the same filter-crucible workflow used with Büchner funnels and suction bottles. Teaching laboratories, quality-control benches and general chemistry laboratories can rely on the stated volume and pore-size values when specifying a glazed porcelain filter crucible for routine sample preparation.

What is this article?

Rotilabo®--filter crucible, made of, glaz. porcel., vol. 35 ml, pore size 6µm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Carl Roth for laboratory use. It sits in Crucibles, inside Dishes, crucibles & porcelain, in Labware.

A crucible holds a sample in a furnace or over a flame, at temperatures that would soften a borosilicate beaker. Porcelain, platinum and glazed ceramic are different articles. The form, tall or wide, decides how fast a sample dries or ashes.

A dish is an open vessel for drying, evaporating or holding a solid. Porcelain and glazed ceramic take a higher temperature than borosilicate glass, which is why a crucible, not a beaker, goes into a furnace. A watch glass covers, or holds a small amount for drying. A mortar is for grinding. The temperature and the chemical, not the shape alone, choose the material. Laboratory ware of this family is listed under ISO laboratory ware.
