Description

Silicone sealing ring, VMQ, with vulcanised PTFE cuff is a laboratory sealing component for GL 32 screw connection pieces, intended for tubes with an internal diameter of 17,0–19,0 mm. It has an inner diameter of 18 mm and an outer diameter of 29 mm and is made of silicone (VMQ) with a vulcanised PTFE cuff on one side. The silicone body provides good sealing behaviour against the screw connector, while the PTFE layer on one face of the gasket confers a degree of material inertness. A central bore permits insertion of glass rods, olives, tubing and similar fittings. Typical applications include sealing and fixing of tubes in laboratory glassware assemblies. This sealing ring from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences is supplied as a single piece and supports secure fixation where a flexible silicone seal with a PTFE-faced contact surface is required. The vulcanised PTFE cuff keeps the facing firmly bonded during use, making the ring suitable for repeated assembly of screw joints and tubing connections in research and analytical setups.

Questions about Silicone Sealing Ring, VMQ, with bonded PTFE face

What is this article?

Silicone Sealing Ring, VMQ, with bonded PTFE face is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Lids & seals, inside Stoppers, caps & closures, in Labware.

Lids and seals are the covers of dishes, jars and tanks: a snap lid, a sealing film, a gasket. The seal is doing the work. A lid that only rests on the rim does not contain a volatile liquid.

A closure is the part that decides whether a bottle stays shut and whether the contents attack the seal. A ground-glass stopper matches a ground neck. A screw cap needs the right thread and a liner that survives the liquid. Rubber and silicone stoppers push into a mouth. The liner, not the colour of the cap, is the chemical choice. The vessels they close are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
