Description

Thermometer with standard ground joint NS 14,5/23, similar to DIN, enclosed-scale design covers −2 to +52 °C with 0,1 °C scale division for precise laboratory temperature reading. It uses a non-wetting blue special filling and a special capillary inner coating for clear meniscus observation. The upper stem measures 350×11 mm; installation length from the top edge of the joint is 75 mm and immersion depth from the bottom edge of the joint is 52 mm, matching typical ground-joint apparatus. A Richter closure without knob completes the stem. Supplied as 1 pc from manufacturer Amarell, each unit includes a factory test certificate with one test point. The enclosed-scale construction and NS 14,5/23 joint suit reaction vessels, distillation setups and process glassware where a DIN-similar joint thermometer with fine 0,1 °C resolution and defined immersion geometry is required.

This article is part of Laboratory glass thermometers, in Temperature measurement.

What is this article?

Thermometer with standard grount joint NS 14,5/23, similar to DIN, enclosed is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Amarell for laboratory use. It sits in Laboratory glass thermometers, inside Temperature measurement, in Lab instruments.

A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column, often with a stated immersion depth, total or partial. The range and the division decide the reading. A partial-immersion thermometer read at the wrong depth is wrong by design.

A thermometer reports a temperature. A liquid-in-glass thermometer is a calibrated column. A digital thermometer is a sensor and a display, and the sensor, not the display, is what is calibrated. An infrared thermometer reads a surface and depends on emissivity. A data logger stores the reading over time. Without a stated uncertainty and a calibration point, the number is only an indication. The scale is maintained by the BIPM and compared by EURAMET. Accreditation is BELAC.
