Description
ThinCert cell culture inserts for 12-well plates are sterile inserts with tissue-culture (TC) treatment and a translucent polyethylene terephthalate (PET) membrane whose pore diameter is 8 µm. Placed in 12-well multiwell plates, they provide a porous PET culture surface that separates the contents of the insert from the well below. Translucency of the PET membrane supports optical checking of cells on the film. Pack configuration is 4 multiwell plates and 48 ThinCert inserts per carton, corresponding to inserts for four 12-well plates packed as a coordinated set. These inserts, from manufacturer Greiner Bio-One, are sterile as supplied. The TC-treated PET surface is intended for adherent cells, and the 8 µm pore diameter sets the size of the openings in the membrane. Working in the 12-well format keeps several cultures at one scale for parallel processing and matches standard 12-well plate handling. A sterile carton of matched plates and inserts, combined with a TC-treated translucent PET membrane of 8 µm pore size, gives laboratories a defined consumable for membrane-supported cell culture in 12-well plates.

Questions about THINCERT CELL CULTURE INSERT FOR 12 WELL PLATES, TC
What is this article?
THINCERT CELL CULTURE INSERT FOR 12 WELL PLATES, TC is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Greiner Bio-One for laboratory use. It sits in Cell strainers, inserts & scrapers, inside Cell culture, in Microbiology lab supplies.
A cell strainer is a sterile mesh, often 40 µm or 70 µm, that gives a single-cell suspension. An insert is a membrane cup that hangs in a well so two compartments share a medium. A scraper lifts adherent cells mechanically. Mesh size, pore size and sterility are the specification.
Cell culture grows cells outside the body. The medium, often with serum, supplies what the flask does not. A flask or a dish is the vessel, treated so the cells attach or left untreated so they float. Contamination by microbes, or by another cell line, is the ordinary failure. Cold-chain articles in this work, including serum, are never part of free standard delivery. Lines are catalogued by ATCC. Papers are on PubMed. Practice is summarised by the WHO laboratory biosafety topic.
