Description

Petrographic microscope Vision+ with binocular head is designed for geology, mineralogy, petrography and the study of anisotropic materials. The binocular version features a 30° inclined head that rotates through 360° and is fitted with WF10X/18 mm eyepieces. A quadruple nosepiece carries achromatic DIN 45 mm objectives (4X, 10X, 40X and 100X) for versatile magnification. Observation of birefringent specimens is supported by a rotatable circular stage of Ø 160 mm with 1° scale divisions and a Vernier resolution of 6′, a rotatable analyzer (0–90°), optical compensators (1/4 λ and first-order red plate) and a sliding Bertrand lens for interference-cone analysis. Coaxial coarse and fine focusing offers 0,01 mm precision. The optical path includes an Abbe condenser N.A. 1,25 with iris diaphragm and an adjustable rotatable polarizer. Illumination is provided by a 1 W LED with intensity control. Supplied as 1 pc from manufacturer Labbox, the instrument is backed by a 2-year warranty and suits teaching and routine petrographic work on birefringent samples.

Questions about Vision+ Petrographic Microscope, binocular head

What is this article?

Vision+ Petrographic Microscope, binocular head is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Labbox for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope objectives, eyepieces & optics, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.

An objective makes the resolution. Magnification and numerical aperture are the two numbers, and the tube length or the infinity correction has to match the microscope. An eyepiece mostly enlarges the image the objective already resolved. A mismatched objective does not become sharper by zooming.

A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
