Description

Filter candle, conical Ø 25 mm, porosity 1, H 65 mm is a VitraPOR® sintered-glass filtration element for laboratory solid–liquid separations. Fabricated from borosilicate glass 3.3, the conical candle has an outer diameter of 25 mm, a height of 65 mm and a central bore of 17,5 mm. Porosity grade 1 provides a defined frit structure suitable for coarse to medium filtrations, clarifying suspensions and protecting downstream apparatus. The conical geometry eases insertion into matching holders or adapters and supports uniform flow across the frit surface. These filter candles from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon are widely used in preparative chemistry, sample clean-up, solvent filtration and as replaceable frits in custom glass apparatus. Borosilicate 3.3 construction delivers thermal and chemical resistance for aqueous and many organic media under typical laboratory conditions. Supplied as a single piece, the component integrates readily into existing filtration set-ups where a durable, reusable glass frit of porosity 1 is required.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Questions about Filter Candle-blanks, Conical Ø 25 mm, Por. 1, H 65 mm

What is this article?

Filter Candle-blanks, Conical Ø 25 mm, Por. 1, H 65 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Consommables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
