Description
HABITAT photo cell S002 is a control unit package with England plug that turns a HABITAT research bioreactor into a photobioreactor for cell culture of photosynthetic organisms. Two LED panels deliver controlled light exposure essential for algae cultivation, biofuel production and carbon dioxide fixation. From manufacturer IKA, the package includes the control tower with full connectivity for gas supply, liquid addition, sensorics and temperature regulation, together with a 10,4-inch tablet for straightforward process control. Users can operate in batch, fed-batch or perfusion/continuous mode and engage chaotic mixing for effective homogenisation. Four individually integrated mass flow controllers manage N2, O2, air and CO2 at 0,01–2 L/min, while cascade control automatically adapts gas flow to keep setpoints stable. Four bidirectional Watson-Marlow pumps enable precise addition of acids, bases, antifoam and feed media for mammalian cell culture workflows. Standard sensors cover pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, fill level and foam; PID temperature control supports single- and double-walled vessels. The compact 223 × 402 × 450 mm design saves valuable bench space.
