Description

Iscove's Modified Dulbecco's Medium (IMDM) with L-glutamine is a more complex and enriched Dulbecco-type basal medium used for a variety of specialised cell types and as a basis for certain serum-free formulations. This 500 ml medium is supplied with L-glutamine, phenol red, sodium bicarbonate and HEPES, and without beta-mercaptoethanol and without alpha-thioglycerol. IMDM is reported to support murine B lymphocytes, haemopoietic tissues from bone marrow, B cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide, T lymphocytes and a wide range of hybrid cells. The combination of HEPES and sodium bicarbonate provides robust buffering, while phenol red allows visual pH monitoring. Laboratories working with demanding or specialised mammalian cultures can rely on this enriched composition as a defined starting medium. The product is available from manufacturer Sartorius in a convenient single-unit 500 ml pack (net weight 0,500 kg, gross weight 0,580 kg) for everyday cell-culture use.

Questions about Iscove's Modified Dulbecco Medium 500ml

What is this article?

Iscove's Modified Dulbecco Medium 500ml is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Sartorius for laboratory use. It sits in Click chemistry, bioconjugation & synthesis reagents, inside Biochemicals & reagents, in Milieux microbiologiques.

Click and bioconjugation reagents join two molecules under mild conditions, often an azide to an alkyne, or an NHS ester to an amine. The linker length and the reactive group are the specification. They are small bottles of a reactive compound, and moisture often ruins them.

A biochemical is a molecule of life, sold as a reagent: an amino acid, a sugar, a nucleotide, a lipid, an enzyme, an antibiotic. The difference from a bulk chemical is that the use is a biological one, and the impurities that matter are the ones that change that use. An enzyme is specified by activity, not only by mass. An antibiotic is specified by potency. Papers are on PubMed. Structures are on PubChem. Strains and lines that consume these reagents are at ATCC.
