Description
Nalgene™ phthalate-free PVC tubing is transparent laboratory-grade flexible tubing made from high-quality resins and orthophthalate-free plasticisers. It sets a clear purity standard for routine fluid handling, with an inner diameter of 3,2 mm, an outer diameter of 4,8 mm and a wall thickness of 0,8 mm over a continuous 15 000 mm (50 ft) length. The formulation meets FDA CFR21 requirements for food packaging together with USP Class VI and cytotoxicity expectations, and is latex-free while remaining consistent with REACH, RoHS and California Proposition 65 criteria. Offered as one roll from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics, the tubing is autoclavable and can also be sterilised by gas or chemical methods. Hardness is Durometer 60 (A), with a bend radius of four times the outer diameter. Maximum working pressure is 30 psig at 23 °C and 15 psig at 51 °C; maximum operating temperature is 71 °C. Vacuum rating is very low. Typical uses include apparatus connections, aqueous media transfer and general benchtop fluid lines where phthalate-free PVC is preferred.

Questions about Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing
What is this article?
Nalgene™ Non-Phthalate PVC Tubing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in PVC, PTFE & other tubing, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Matériel de laboratoire.
PVC is the flexible everyday tube for water and mild aqueous liquids. PTFE is the stiff, almost inert tube for solvents. Other polymers sit between them. The bore, the wall and the chemical resistance are the specification, and the tube is cut to length.
Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
