Description

Nalgene™ cylinders with PMP graduations are graduated polymethylpentene measuring cylinders with a metric capacity of 1000 ml for laboratory measuring work. They meet ASTM Class B accuracy requirements according to E1272 and fulfil CFR 21, Part 177.1520 together with all requirements of ISO standard 6706. The material is PMP (polymethylpentene). Every size provides a generous pour spout and embossed graduations for lasting scale definition. Graduations run from 30 ml to 1000 ml in 10 ml increments, with a tolerance of ±6 ml. Calibration is to contain and to deliver. The cylinder form is round and rests on a hexagonal base for bench stability. Units are autoclavable and rated to a maximum temperature of 145 °C. Manufacturer data state an outer diameter of 3,15 in., an inner diameter of 2,44 in., and a height of 17,7 in. These measuring cylinders from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics ship as a case of 6 and are intended for routine volume measurement and mixing where Class B plastic graduated cylinders are required. Nominal volume is 1 l.

This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about Nalgene™ PMP Plastic Graduated Cylinders

What is this article?

Nalgene™ PMP Plastic Graduated Cylinders is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Matériel de laboratoire.

A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
