Utilisé en combinaison avec le sel de BCIP-toluidine (X-phosphate) pour la détection de l'activité de la phosphatase alcaline par production d'un précipité de colorant indigo. Rehausseur de couleur pour la coloration à la phosphatase alcaline.
Lors de la dimérisation du X-Phos cétonisé, des ions H+ sont libérés, lesquels réduisent le NBT en diformazan de couleur violette. Les deux colorants précipitent à proximité immédiate de la phosphatase, colorant ainsi ce site en violet foncé. Stocker à +4 °C. Veuillez également consulter le protocole de dosage pour l'utilisation du BCIP/NBT dans les procédures d'immunotransfert (Western blot).
