Description
Fluoride Photometer Medium Range HI97729C is a portable, battery-powered dedicated photometer for photometric determination of fluoride in the low to medium range of 0,00 to 2,00 mg/L (as F⁻). It belongs to the HI97xxx series, successor to the HI96xxx line, and combines reliability and accuracy with straightforward operation. An advanced optical system uses an LED and a narrow-band interference filter at 575 nm for precise, repeatable readings; the optics are sealed against dust, dirt and water, and the cuvette holder ensures consistent positioning of the round 24,6 mm cells. Fluoride monitoring supports drinking-water treatment and groundwater control, where levels around 1 mg/L harden enamel while excess can cause discoloration. CAL Check™ with NIST-traceable standards lets users verify performance and recalibrate as needed; a built-in tutorial guides sample preparation and reagent use step by step. The instrument (Hanna Instruments) offers German menu guidance, GLP recall of the last calibration, automatic storage of the last 50 readings, a reaction timer, battery-level display and auto-off. Supplied in a transport case with two capped cuvettes, plastic inserts, CAL Check™ standards, scissors, cleaning cloth, three 1,5 V AA batteries, quality certificate and manual; reagents are ordered separately.

Questions about Portable Photometer for Fluoride MR with CAL Check standards
What is this article?
Portable Photometer for Fluoride MR with CAL Check standards is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Photometers & spectrophotometers, inside Spectroscopy & photometry, in Instruments de précision.
A photometer reads absorbance at one or a few wavelengths. A spectrophotometer scans or selects many. Both send light through a cuvette or a well. The wavelength range, UV or visible, and the bandwidth decide what can be measured. A visible-only instrument cannot read a nucleic acid at 260 nm.
A photometer or spectrophotometer sends light through a sample and reads how much was absorbed. In the range where the Beer–Lambert relation holds, absorbance tracks concentration. A refractometer reads how a liquid bends light, which tracks dissolved solids. A polarimeter reads the rotation of polarised light, the classical measurement for sugars. The lamp, the wavelength and the cuvette path length are the three things that have to be right before the number means anything. The optical quantities trace to NIST and the BIPM.
Which category should I open next?
