Portable Photometer for Iodine with CAL Check standards

The HI97718C iodine photometer is a portable, battery-operated instrument for the photometric determination of iodine from 0,0 to 12,5 mg/L (as I2) at 0,1 mg/L resolution. It belongs to the HI97xxx series and uses an advanced sealed optical system with an LED source and narrow-band interference filter at 525 nm, supporting accurate, repeatable readings with a silicon photocell detector. The round cuvette design (24,6 mm outer diameter) ensures consistent positioning in the holder. Accuracy at 25 °C is ±0,1 mg/L ±5 % of the reading, following a DPD method adapted from Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 23rd Edition. Iodine is applied as a disinfectant alternative to chlorine or bromine, for example in poultry process water, where its residual properties can be more stable under adverse conditions. CAL Check™ with NIST-traceable standards allows performance verification and recalibration; a built-in tutorial guides sample preparation and reagent use. GLP recall of the last calibration, automatic logging of the last 50 results, reaction timer, battery-level display, auto-off, IP67 housing and a backlit 128 × 64 LCD support routine field and lab work. Supplied from manufacturer Hanna Instruments in a transport case with two capped cuvettes, plastic inserts, CAL Check™ standards, scissors, cleaning cloth, three 1,5 V AA batteries, quality certificate and manual; reagents are ordered separately.
