Iron high-range photometer HI97721C is a portable, battery-powered instrument for photometric determination of iron from 0,00 to 5,00 mg/L (ppm). Part of the HI97xxx series, it pairs reliability and accuracy with simple operation. An advanced optical system uses an LED and a narrowband interference filter at 525 nm for precise, repeatable readings; the optics are sealed against dust, dirt and water, and the holder seats each round cuvette (24,6 mm outer diameter) in the same position every time. The method follows the phenanthroline procedure adapted from Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 23rd edition, 3500-Fe B, with 0,01 mg/L resolution and accuracy of ±0,4 mg/L ±2 % of reading at 25 °C. Iron levels matter in drinking water, wastewater, heating and cooling circuits, mining effluent and industrial process streams. CAL Check™ with NIST-traceable standards supports performance checks and recalibration, while a tutorial mode steps through sample preparation and reagent volumes. The meter from manufacturer Hanna Instruments provides German menu guidance, storage of the last 50 results, GLP calibration recall, battery status, reaction timer and automatic shut-off. Supplied in a carrying case with two capped cuvettes, inserts, CAL Check™ standards, scissors, cleaning cloth, three 1,5 V batteries, quality certificate and manual; reagents are ordered separately.
