Silica gel modified with propylsulfonic acid, very strong cation exchanger (SCX).
- High recovery rates for pyridinic compounds.
- Simple retention mechanism, no nonpolar interactions
Contrary to the SCX phase no π-π interactions.
PRS has a unique selectivity as there are no non-polar interactions. It is an alternative to SCX when non-polar components in the samples cannot be removed with the latter.
